The biggest Jewellery Trends from Vicenza – what to expect to see on the high street

Vicenza, Italy – Jewellery Trends 2016: Jacky Boy rubbed shoulders with the glamour queens and uber designers of the jewellery world in Italy these last few days. We asked her to feed back the jewellery trends highlights, particularly those she thought were going to be the biggest winners for 2016. Jacky, who heads up Scarab Jewellery Studio’s London base, is a regular at the jewellery fairs around the world, and we appreciate her insights.

The Trend Highlights:

Layering – Necklaces are being layered. Longer lengths are going to be a big story this year. Particularly varied lengths – from short to long layered together. Longer chains with stations (chain is broken up with stones, baubles and beads) – these stations are often inventive and asymmetrical – were seen everywhere. Multi-strand chains are notable too.

Jewellery trends 2016 - layering necklaces mixing lengths and metals

One of the big trend stories out of Vicenza is layering – mixing lengths and metals. It’s all about individuality and personality. Chains and pendants by Scarab Jewellery Studio.

Stacking – rings and rings and rings… you cannot have enough of them. Multi-stone multi-coloured pieces are being stacked together – it’s all about individuality and personalisation. Textures on metal are important – from soft satin to heavier bark-like effects.

Nature – many stylized versions of leaves, flowers, butterflies and animals were evident. Particularly beautiful were those interpreted in a simple and edgy way.

New Technology with a mid-century look – new tech designs – think cutouts and negative shapes that allow the skin to show through. The biggest impact winners were those that seemed to take inspiration from geometrical patterns from the 1950’s era.

Multi-colored stones, Multi-colored metals, Multi-textured metals, Multi-lengthed necklaces, Multi-stacked rings. These are the key ideas we’re getting from the Italian show this year.

Of course, the Scarab range can easily live up to these ideas – and more. We’ve been a big fan of layering and stacking for a while and the idea of textures and multi-stone rings and pendants are very much on our radar. You’ll find many of our pieces that are right on trend – see them on our online store.

Of course, we can always take a bespoke design request to make up a piece or two that’s quite unique to your particular style – it’s what we do! Contact Janine here for any custom design you may have in mind.
